Beginners Questions • Help with security mitigations!

When I look at the Unix operating system now after working with it for over a decade, I see it as something potentially greater than it is given credit for, a system that can-in advance-eliminate potential threats to itself, render them void, granted a intelligent education about how to take advantage of it's underlying characteristics.

It's greatest strength in other words is it's capability to leverage unique solutions, but that requires a willingness to implement them, or invent them rather. (or in this case to so much as communicate about them)

One such solution I'd like to implement is a custom white list for network access, but it's not trivial to implement, I don't know how to do it effectively yet. And standard common tools, don't make it easy on us.

Also these trivial solutions are like stone age technology now, exploits are far more advanced than they were 20 years ago... We are living in the past, at each others expense.
