Not the issue. I WANT it to send a double click.

You do not want the mouse to send a double click signal with a single click of the mouse. You want the system to only take an action like opening a folder after receiving two left click signals.

A search for this issue brings up several instances of people asking the same question, and finding to their surprise that in fact it was the mouse sending a double click signal with a single click, whether by fault or design.
