General Questions • Cant boot after installing NVIDIA driver

I have been running Debian on my Macbook A1297 for more than 10 years. Decided to make a fresh install of the latest Stable Debian this week but as it was also the problem on my previous install graphics driver nouveou did not work very well. As I have done successfully before I installed the nvidia driver from Sid following this example:

When I boot the machine now the usual messages runs across the screen and then when I assume X would start I just get a black empty screen. If I press control+option+F1-7 nothing happens. It just hangs there.

Adding "nomodeset" or "text" to the Linux line in grup during boot also has no effect, it also ends in a black screen.

Im able to boot the machine up with a Debian 12 LiveCD and can also access the harddrive and read files. Have been trying to find an error message, my idea is that I just need to correct something regarding X11/nvidia.

So my main question is: how to find an error message ? Any help in learning to understanding logging better is very much appreciated. Also tips on debugging what is happening during boot would be useful.
