I am aware of the txt mode options, it runs headless , it is in an inconvenient location re keyboard to tv visibility, hence ssh access from desktop in conjunction with x11vnc for gui email, torrents downloads etc, i had hoped someone might now of any apps that do lockdowns that might be associated with these 2 environments, i know iptables, i have had issues like these before with linux where a rampant added process/daemon oversteps it bounds i think it was dhcpscd when i was setting up openvpn many years back , i kept getting odd ip assignments to an interface inside a bridge ( not requiring an ip at all ) even after shutting the isc-dhcp-server down ![:)]( "Smile")
, took a bit of digging that , so many ways of doing the same thing unfortunately.
Anyway i will poke around a bit more, and ive had more managers installed in the past , not a problem , its just the extra daemons? overlapping.
Shame linux is emulating windows so much, that reinstall is easier then finding what it getting in the way, sign of the times i guess, greater complexity more potential for hickups.
But thank you for your response, a solution will present itself it always does, not ready to go to "that other" os on the intel NUC yet.
