I use file called ~/Documents/Bookworm_install.txt that documents all such changes to the default install.A use case would be, say, get some hermetically inscrutable error message from git, google it and find a workaround, then save the command sequence, explanation and url in a note.
By downloading the source to the bash program that you are using when doing this and looking at its history processing routines. It would be good to read the source and find out how this is managed. Where do I find the history source? If I wanted to fork it and add the feature I want, what's the best approach? (I mean, for hacking on the distro source, not how would I add the feature!)
