I had read that discussion but dismissed to check out the bug listed. Now I did it and it worked. Now I can see my network adpter from terminal and connect to internet without switching to the previous kernel. So I think the bug solved the kernel issue. I mus note I did not create the file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf so it was shipped with debian.
KDE still does not show any wifi icon, i guess I need to change something in KDE too, but I cannot figure out what.
