Beginners Questions • [O/S] Username at login screen

Answer is correct for XFCE, but doesn't Cinnamon use slick greeter in conjunction with lightdm? Slick=greeter overrides any other conf in lightdm.

I performed a default install (in a virtual machine) of Cinnamon from the Debian netinstall image, and it used lightdm. If you use another distro it may be different but for a default Debian Cinnamon install my advice is correct although the wiki advice is likely the "better" way to do it.
